Intimate Choreographies

4Culture Association

The concept, developed under the artistic direction of choreographer and curator Andreea Căpitănescu, revolves around the idea that surveillance spaces can surprisingly foster a deep emotional intimacy that transcends the unequal authoritarian structure of technology. Through poetic fragments written and recited by the artists, this performative intervention aims to connect with ourselves and others regardless of how the urban environment may divert or prevent us from creating deep and real connections. The intervention involves an individual audio system (headphones and receiver) accessible to each participant. The artists of the performance will guide participants through shared choreographic actions while also incorporating moments of individual reflection experienced simultaneously. This project was presented at Magdalena Festival in Montpellier through the Cantemir 2023 program developed by the Romanian Cultural Institute, with the support of the partner ICI-CCN Montpellier and the European cooperation network Life Long Burning.
